Mortise Lockset
A mortise lockset contains the workings for the knob, lever or grip
handle, latch and deadbolt. Unlocking the deadbolt also frees the latch.
Lock buttons at the door's edge engage or disengage the lock. Mounting a
mortise lockset in a door's edge calls for fairly tricky carpentry work.
