Though wallpaper is an easy and inexpensive way to add color, texture, and style to a room, wallpaper is somewhat vulnerable to damage because of the nature of the material and method of application. Wallpaper, after all, is usually just paper, though in some cases it is made of sturdy vinyl.
Vinyl wallpaper is well suited for use in a kitchen or bathroom because it’s tougher than paper and because it resists moisture. Vinyl coverings may be laminated to paper, laminated to cloth, or be vinyl-impregnated cloth with paper backing.
Wallpaper is typically applied over an existing painted wall of drywall or plaster, or may be applied over a lining coat of wallpaper to hide imperfections.
